David is the founder of Ascent Energy Ventures, a Denver based venture fund targeting early-stage software companies for the energy sector.  He has 20 years of experience investing capital on behalf of institutions, private investors, and a single-family office.

He began his investment career in quantitative finance, managing algorithmic execution and long/short investment strategies where he gained firsthand experience with industry-wide automation. After eight years managing public market portfolios, David joined an oil and gas single-family office. Ascent Energy Ventures was launched in 2021.

David is a CFA Charterholder and graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in finance. He lives in Denver, Colorado.
